The 100-night exchange, explained simply

From night 30 to night 100: 1 exchange for another model, $79 transport fee. What’s covered, what isn’t, and the rights you keep on top of it.

You can try a mattress in store, but you only really judge it in your own bedroom, night after night. That’s what the 100-night exchange is for. Here’s exactly how it works.

In short

  • When: after a minimum of 30 nights and up to the 100th night after delivery.
  • What: 1 exchange of your mattress for another model in the range.
  • How much: a $79 transport fee, plus any price difference.
  • Condition: the mattress must not be stained or soiled.
  • Good to know: it’s an exchange, not a refund.

The timeline, night by night

PeriodWhat’s possible
Nights 1 to 29You sleep on your mattress. An exchange isn’t possible yet.
Nights 30 to 100If the feel isn’t right for you, you can exchange your mattress once.
After night 100The comfort exchange is no longer available. The manufacturer’s warranty and your legal rights still apply.

Those 30 minimum nights give you time to sleep on the mattress in your real bedroom, with your own pillow and bedding, before you decide. A quick reminder: our mattresses come rolled; once unpacked, the mattress unrolls in a few minutes and reaches its full thickness in 24 hours. The construction, pocket coils and warranty are the same as a mattress delivered flat.

What it costs

The transport fee is $79. Any price difference is payable. There are no refunds under the comfort exchange program.

The exchange is about feel: it lets you move, for example, from a firmer model to a more contouring one, or the other way around. For reference, the collection’s feel scale runs from the Levis (firmest) to the Legacy (most contouring), by way of the Ricardo, the Impulsion and the Essentiel.

A concrete example

You chose the Essentiel in Queen, at $749. After 45 nights, you’d like a more contouring feel. You can exchange it for the Legacy in Queen, at $1,199: you pay the $79 transport fee plus the $450 price difference, for $529 before taxes. Is your mattress stained? Then the exchange isn’t possible, whatever the night.

What isn’t covered

  • A stained or soiled mattress cannot be exchanged.
  • A refund: the comfort exchange is an exchange, not a return.
  • A 2nd exchange: you can exchange once.
  • Before night 30 or after night 100: the comfort exchange isn’t available.

What about the mattress protector?

You don’t need one to use the exchange: you can buy ours, bring your own or go without. But since a stain rules out the exchange, and also voids the manufacturer’s warranty, we strongly recommend one. The 3 Excelsior protectors we carry are waterproof; when bought at the same time as your mattress, from us, an Excelsior protector also covers stains on the mattress for 10 years, under Excelsior’s terms. See the Invincible, the simplest of the 3.

The Levis too

The Levis isn’t on display: it’s sold rolled, with no floor model, which keeps its price down. The 100-night exchange still applies to the Levis, just as it does for the other models. To get a sense of its feel before you buy, try the Ricardo, the firmest of our display models.

What applies on top of the exchange

The 100-night exchange is about comfort. It doesn’t replace your warranties, which still apply:

  • The manufacturer’s warranty covers manufacturing defects and sagging beyond its tolerance, from delivery: 5 years for the Levis (prorated), 10 years for the Impulsion, Essentiel and Ricardo, and 15 years for the Legacy (non-prorated). It is void if the mattress is stained, soiled or unsanitary, or if it has been folded, wet or used without proper support.
  • The Québec legal warranty: your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, including the warranty of reasonable durability, apply in addition to the manufacturer’s warranty and the exchange, and are never excluded.

What happens to the returned mattress?

A mattress returned in an exchange is never resold as new. A mattress sold as new at Bon Sommeil is new: rolled at the factory, with its legal label. Our mattresses are made in Québec, in a factory in Laval.

Try them in store

The 100 nights are a safety net; the best way not to need them is to try first. The Impulsion, Essentiel, Ricardo and Legacy are on display in our 3 stores, in Montréal, Laval and Longueuil. Take around 10 minutes per model. See our stores · Find yours
